Building a Better Future Among Aurora’s Multiethnic Communities through a Program of English Language Acquisition
Our mission is to assist Limited English Proficiency (LEP) adult learners to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency, and to assist adult learners who are parents to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children. We strive to empower our students to continue in their desire to improve their quality of life, and that of their families’.
Asian Pacific Development Center’s ESL program serves the diverse needs of our learners and includes seven life-skills adult classes for beginning to advanced level students. Students learn the skills needed to read, write and speak in English at levels necessary to function in a job, in the family and in society. Our goal at Asian Pacific is to offer adults the opportunity to acquire academic and life skills through small, engaging classes that are taught by experienced ESL instructors. Additional services include an ESL Tutoring Program and Citizenship classes. Last year APDC served over 130 students.
APDC offers morning, afternoon and evening classes for two hours, twice a week. The cost of enrollment is $25 for one ten-week course and $20 for two books. We also offer payment plans and reduced fees for students. Several of our classes offer free daycare. Classes are held at two locations in Original Aurora.
